Ajay Raghunath Nair

I’m a physician working at the intersection of medicine, technology, and policy.

Over the last twenty-two years, I’ve worked across clinical practice, impact investing, health-tech entrepreneurship, public policy, and systems reform.

Most recently, I helped found and lead the Swasth Alliance through India’s COVID response and helped build India’s National Health Claims Exchange in partnership with IRDAI and the National Health Authority. I also serve on the ACT Grants Investment Committee for Health.

Previously, I co-founded MeraDoctor, one of India’s earliest telemedicine companies; I was a social impact investor with Acumen in New York and Nairobi;and have worked with the Government of India, state governments, regulators, and industry bodies on health and health-tech policy. I started my journey in Mumbai working as a clinician with male and female sex workers on STIs and HIV/AIDs after medical college and learned more about life and medicine from my patients than anywhere else. For this, I am eternally grateful.

Today I advise across AI in Health Systems, TechBio, Health Insurance, and Healthcare services, working with government, industry, and philanthropy.
